Paradise Marimba was developed by Orange Tree Samples in collaboration with Chris Poehler from Lujon Audio. The goal was to create a marimba library that stood out from others by offering a fuller and more sustained sound, rather than just percussive and bright. Recorded in a professional studio with multiple microphones (close, mid, and far), the virtual instrument provides mixing flexibility and sonic realism.
The instrument covers five full octaves and includes alternative samples with bass marimba mallets, ideal for ambient music and cinematic scores. This approach ensures that the producer has access to rich and deep tones, especially in the two lowest octaves, which were carefully recorded to preserve natural resonance.

The main highlight of Paradise Marimba is its pursuit of realism. The library includes up to 11 round-robin layers with four dynamic levels, ensuring that each note sounds natural and avoids mechanical repetition. Additionally, features such as “playable rolls” were implemented, simulating how a real marimba player divides notes between mallets when performing a roll. These rolls can be controlled in real time with the modulation wheel, allowing dynamic adjustments of speed and intensity.
Another exclusive feature is the “staccato hits” articulation, where the player presses the mallets against the marimba keys to quickly mute the sound. This technique is rarely found in virtual libraries and adds authenticity to performances. The result is an instrument that not only sounds realistic but also offers interpretative nuances that enhance expressiveness.

Paradise Marimba was designed to suit different musical styles. It can be used in classical compositions, jazz, Latin music, reggae, pop, and even electronic productions. The library includes repetition keys that allow custom rolls, as well as articulation options such as normal hits, muted hits, and mallet noises. This variety ensures that the producer has creative control over every detail of performance.
The interface panel within Kontakt offers controls for volume, stereo width, and EQ by frequency range (bass, mid, and treble). It is also possible to switch between close, mid, and far microphone signals, adjusting depth and ambience. This flexibility makes Paradise Marimba suitable for both intimate mixes and grand productions.
Integration and modern workflow
Compatible with macOS and Windows, Paradise Marimba requires the full version of Kontakt (from 4.2.4). The library occupies about 3.9 GB in 24-bit samples, compressed to 1.4 GB via NCW. Installation is simple, and the organization of samples within Kontakt makes access to articulations and controls easy.
Another positive point is the availability of a free demo version, which allows users to try the instrument before purchase. Although limited in range and round-robin, this version already demonstrates the sound quality and ease of use of the library.
