The Drums
The library contains over 35 drums, including Roto Toms, Octobans, Concert Toms, Kick Drums, and over 80 articulations, from solo drums to a variety of impactful ensemble setups. The drums have been carefully selected and tuned to create a rich and varied sound palette that can be used in combination or individually. - Concert Toms: The central piece of Fracture Sounds – TOM FACTORY, these toms differ from regular drum toms by lacking a resonant bottom head, providing a more precise and impactful tone. Traditionally used in concert band settings, concert toms are increasingly present in blockbuster soundtracks. The library has captured a selection of concert toms of different sizes and tunings (10-18 inches) in solo and ensemble setups.
- Octobans: One of the newest additions to the percussion family is the Octobans. Initially gaining prominence in the world of popular music during the late 1970s, they have recently found a place in cinematic soundtracks. Octobans each have the same six-inch head, with the variation in their tones coming from the size of the body. The library includes 7 different Octobans tones, ranging from 6 to 18 inches in length.
- Roto Toms: Roto toms feature a tight head without a shell, resulting in a sharp and resonant tone with a characteristic ‘pitch bend’ effect at higher dynamics. Their tone contrasts beautifully with the fuller concert toms and means they can be used very effectively in combination with other drums in the library. The library includes 7 different tones of roto toms, ranging from 6 to 14 inches in size.
- Kick Drums: Despite being primarily a toms library, we couldn’t resist including kick drums as well, to add a solid and impactful foundation to the sound palette. The library includes 4 kick drums of different sizes and tunings, which can be used individually or layered.
