Kinetic Toys is a virtual instrument developed for the Kontakt Player and is part of the Native Instruments Komplete collection. Created by sound designer Jeremiah Savage, the project was born from the idea of transforming old toys and everyday sounds into dynamic musical instruments. Savage spent more than a year collecting toys from flea markets, antique shops, and even his own home, recording every sonic detail to build a rich and diverse library.
The result is a collection with more than 200 recordings of toys and objects, each accompanied by a synthesized layer that expands musical possibilities. These sounds are organized into 35 thematic sets, each with eight toy sounds and eight synthesizer layers, manipulated by up to four simultaneous effects. This structure allows the creation of unique textures, ranging from delicate melodies to experimental atmospheres.

Each recording was made in high quality, capturing mechanical noises, clicks, and textures that make these sounds authentic.
In addition to the recordings, each sound is combined with a synthesized layer, creating hybrid tones that can be used in leads, rhythmic effects, or atmospheres. This fusion between acoustic and electronic ensures that Kinetic Toys is useful for both experimental music and cinematic soundtracks. The X-Y modulation system allows real-time manipulation of sounds, creating fluid and dynamic transitions.

Kinetic Toys was designed to offer intuitive and creative control. Its interface features two X-Y controllers: a ballerina that modulates sounds and a robot that controls effects. The ballerina allows switching between eight toy sounds and eight synthesizer layers, while the robot manipulates up to eight effect processors, such as filters, delays, distortions, and modulators.
This visual and interactive approach makes the creation process fun and accessible, allowing the user to literally “play” with sounds. In addition, the instrument offers four modulation sources (two envelopes and two LFOs), which can be assigned to different parameters, further expanding creative possibilities. This versatility makes Kinetic Toys an ideal tool for producers seeking unique and unexpected tones.

Compatible with the free Kontakt Player, Kinetic Toys can be used in any modern DAW, such as Ableton Live, Logic Pro, Cubase, or FL Studio. The download takes about 3.5 GB, and the library includes more than 650 ready-to-use snapshots, organized into thematic categories.
